Cowichan Green Community (CGC) Society promotes food security locally through projects such as Fruit Save - a fruit gleaning project, creation of community gardens, and by connecting homeowners/schools with interested gardeners and volunteers. We sell Salt Spring Seeds, host workshops and do promotions and other activities relating to food security and sustainable gardening.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Cowichan Valley
Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Cowichan Valley is part of the national Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada network and has been helping matching children between the ages of 6 and 16 with positive role models since 1971. Our adult volunteers spend anywhere from 1 to 5 hours per week with their "Littles" for a period of at least one year. Many matches last much longer, and the benefits of one interested adult's friendship lasts an entire lifetime.
