Cowichan Valley Bottle Depot Ltd. (CVBD) was incorporated in 1995 and has since grown and expanded to include four other locations. Louis Spronken founder and president used his previous experience in the retail ladies fashion industry and applied the principles of business he used there to his Return-It centres. These principles of customer service, pleasant surroundings and efficient well organized facilities have made the Cowichan Valley Bottle Depot Ltd. a leader in the industry.

Mr. Spronken's progressive and innovative approach has contributed to the Cowichan Valley Bottle Depot attaining an unprecedented recovery rate of 92% compared to the provincial average of 65-70% and is one of the highest volume Return-It centre's in the province. Our locations in Campbell River, Saltspring Island, Sidney and Esquimalt practice the same approach to business. Our aim is to be a leader in all of the communities we are located in by providing a consistently high standard of service.

Our return-it centres have successfully operated in retail malls rather than industrial sites for many years, providing our customers with convenient, easy access to recycling facilities. Simplfying the process for our customers encourages more people to recycle and this in turn helps reduce our community's impact on the environment. We take our responsibility seriously and we support and partner with local organizations, such as Cowichan Green Community, in their efforts to educate and improve food security, and other green initiatives.

CVBD is proud to be a part of a community where everyone here takes his/her responsibility for the environment seriously.
